After a lot of measuring, sewing and re-sewing I finally finished my Re-purposed/Tank Top Re-fashion project!!!! My skirt is not as full or as short as this one I found because the full skirt looked ridiculous on me. I'm pretty proud of it and it was the perfect thing to wear on this super warm spring day!

Take Two
I've discovered McDonald's McCafe.
I wish I never had.
It's too good.
But I allow a treat to myself every now and then.
Their small Mocha Frappes is just enough for a little cold pick me up at $2.79.
It is the perfect consistency. No ice chunks. And you don't ever have to swirl it around to get more goodness through your straw. All very important things to consider when enjoying your drink.
Now lets compare this to a Starbucks Frappaccino.
First of all a Small MOCHA Frappaccino will set me back $3.55.
So I opted for a plain coffee one that totaled $3.18.
Second, it was smaller than the small at McD's.
Third, the ice chunks kept getting stuck in my straw and I had to chew them.
Fourth, I had to keep swirling the drink to get a good sip through the straw.
What to take from all this:
McDonald's is better.

The weekend.
Stephen's parents came over on Friday afternoon and stayed through Saturday evening. I was glad they could come over and it was a nice relaxing weekend. We went and saw Hot Tub Time Machine which proved to be a really funny movie, although quite crude, and they must have said the 'F' word at least 500 times.
We, actually Stephen, was going to fix a repair in the house by texturing a small bit of the wall. Well....turns out we didn't have any texture left over from previous projects. Imagine that. Luckily you can buy spray knockdown texture in a small can instead of a 5 gallon bucket at Home Depot. Woo Hoo!!
Is the repair done? No.
Are we that much closer to finishing it? YES!!!

Here's to finding my 8-5
Tank Top Refashion
Okay... I'm not much of a sewer but I think that I can master some seams to recreate a dress for like $5.
You know these tank dresses that are so "in" right now...
That particular dress is $65 but I've seen them for like $30. All that is is a tank top, some elastic and cotton fabric for the skirt. My thinking is that I will take an old tank top of mine that is too short, sew it to some elastic banding, and find some basic fabric for the shirt from Hancock. TaDA....new dress for summer.
Stayed tuned to see how it turns out.

Green Thumb
Spring is giving us a sneak peak at its beautiful weather in between days of cloudy skies and cold winds.
Our new garden is just about ready for showing off! Last fall we completely took everything out. 5 huge ugly bushes, an old tree stump, a lot of roots, and a few hostas that we actually saved. This is what the garden looked like when we moved it. It looks great...but at a closer look it wasn't the best plan.
All winter, our garden looked like this. Depressing.
But, after a great trip to TLC Garden and Nursery center, we know have THIS!!!
After some tilling and digging, and putting in some really cool plants, I think our garden is going to look awesome. We put in a Dwarf Alberta Spruce, Graham Blandy Boxwoods, Indian Hawthorn, Ebb Tide Rose Bush, Hydrandra, Corel Bells, Hostas, Violas, small Pine Bushes, and a Honeyhill because it looked really cool.
Looking at it all now it looks so bare, but after we put in our path and it all starts to bloom, I know I'm really going to love it!

Gee thanks...
My cousin Sarah informed me that I don't update this blog enough. So sorry. Sometimes I get the urge to be a real awesome blogger and then I'll go weeks thinking of things I could/should blog about but I just don't. I have more fun reading the 20 some odd blogs I follow.
Maybe if I write down my ideas for posts here it'll give you all something to look forward to reading and it will keep me accountable to actually writing about them.
1. Gardening
2. South Africa
3. Working
4. Decor
5. Lent friendly food
That's all I got for now. On to mopping my kitchen floor!!!!!!
