Zach's Tree

Long before I got pregnant, Stephen and I had decided that when we had our first child (and every child after that) we would plant a tree for him/her.  It's a special thing to be able to tell your child, this is your tree, we planted it just for you.  Just like we will nuture you, the earth will nurture this tree and you will both grow big and strong.  It's fun to watch the tree grow as the child grows.

We finally got around to planting Zachary's tree in March and we chose an Oklahoma Redbud.

Right after the tree was planted in March.
Here is the tree in May.  Way more exciting becuase it has leaves now!

Six Months

Zachary is half way to one year! Crazy stuff.
Weighs approximately 17 pounds (and I'm really starting to notice that when I hold him)
Likes doing art at daycare.
Kicks around in the bathtub
Will put anything into his mouth
Started reaching for objects on a table with intent
He can almost sit up on his own, but is a little wobbly still.
Zach has also started to reach out and touch Pepper on the nose and let her lick his hand.  It's really adorable!

Zach continues to be a really good sleeper for the most part. He goes back and forth with only waking up around 4am and sometimes 1130pm and/or 2am.  He goes back to sleep really well though if he's held and nursed.  Which is probably a bad habit to get into… but when you also need your sleep, you just do whatever works the best.

He hates being on his stomach, and even though he knows how to roll over, he just won't do it.  I think he's lazy.  He would also rather just lay on his back and move from side to side than roll over.  He'll get there eventually.

Look at that drool.

His sweet smile.
We also started him on 'solids'.  We tried pureed sweet potatoes and he loves them.  He opens his mouth real wide and just talks and talks during dinner.  I'll have to post the video soon.

We are still battling allergies with the little guy.  His cough has suppressed for the most part, but then his eyes became really watery and gooey in the mornings. We put some essential oils blends on his feet and chest, and I think they help him, at least at night they do.

Zachary is such a joy and can put anyone into a good mood with his coy smile and little laugh.
