My fab idea

Okay...so some other blogs that I follow do cool things like have theme days or months when they write their blog. It just occurred to me that this is a neat idea.

Since I got married in September that is going to be a month all about weddings. Most people get married in May or June so those months would make more sense to do this..but this is my blog I can do whatever I want.

Food Friday could be another good one since I kind of like finding new things to make at home.

Okay...so keep looking back here for awesome new posts!!!

Update:

Alright...so this past weekend we worked on our bathroom project. We had the intention to tile on Saturday but didn't quite get to that. We did however pick up our cabinetry, intsall the lights, hang the mirror and finish painting.
After Stephen's soccer game on Sunday morning we cranked out some tile. We borrowed a wet saw from a guy I knew through my previous job, but didn't get very far with it because it kept shocking us. Hence we only made a few cugts with it and then just laid the full tiles down.
Since our bathroom is pretty small, I had the pleasure of standing by the door and watching Stephen do all the hard labor as I just handed him tiles. Here's what he have done so far. We seriously have so much to do before Labor Day weekend. That's kind of our goal to get this done.

Do it yourself...

Alright...I've been telling myself I was going to blog about our bathroom project so here it is!!!!

When we moved in, our bathroom looked like this:
After taking off the foam like textured wallpaper, texturing and painting the walls we had this effect: (a cheery yellow that the camera didn't capture)The following summer comes along and we decide to rip everything out and start anew:
First things first is demolition!
Here is Stephen grinding away at the tile and thinset and didn't come off just by pounding it at it.

Next we had to get our drywall repaired and some new wiring for sconce lighting. Then our plumber came in to remove this old tub
And replace it with this taller, wider, beautiful Kohler tub and some new plumbing too!In the meantime we finally picked out a field tile and some accent mosaics to use around the tub as a border, picked out our new cabinets, installed a new vent/light, and painted.
This color is called "dried basil" by Behr and it is awesome!we also had to make one wall thicker by putting up some more drywall so our tile could actually fit around our tub because it's 2" wider than before.

Still left to do is: Give the room a second coat of paint, install cement backer board, tile the floor and walls, install cabinets!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah...and then we have to look into getting a sink and counter top. It's going to be so awesome!

Pizza-ini

So I've been following some blogs lately and one of them is this girl who blogs about a Rachel Ray recipe that she has cooked every day. She posts pictures and everything. I remembered seeing her post about a pizza-ini and decided to try it.

It was pretty good and the perfect, super fast, and easy meal to make just after running. It literally took about 10 minutes start to eat. It's not a lot of food so don't be starving when you make it. I didn't take any pictures but you can go here to see where I got it from. I made these slight modifications:

- grated mozzarella cheese instead of fresh
- whatever spaghetti sauce I had on hand instead of roasting tomatoes
- Turkey pepperoni instead of original. It's better for you and tastes the same.

First Interview....

I had my first interview this morning at a law office. We all know I basically don't know anything about law...and this position requires you to quickly learn a lot about law and running an office and paying bills and those sorts of things. Honestly....I just don't know what to think about it.

Oh nothing much...

I really don't have anything to update on except for these random thoughts.

- I don't know what to do about my tomato plants. They have grown over 6' tall because they are reaching for the sun and are subsequently taller than the stakes I bought to hold them and are now falling over. So after I harvest my TWO tomatos, I think I'm going to say goodbye and see you next year.

- I really don't want to clean my room and put away some clothes. I have been putting it off for three maybe four days.

- Playing The Sims can really eat up 3 hours of your day. Darn it.

- I have been unemployed for 1 week. Surprisingly, it's been really great so far and I have had 7 really good, happy days. I will be starting my 'search for a job search' tomorrow. In truth and reality though, this is a hard time for us, so please keep us in your prayers.

-HAHA, all the weathermen said there was no rain in the forecast for awhile. A good downpour came through today and it was a nice cool down.

- ummm....that's all. BYE

Finally....

...the people who make the fluorescent 'green' light bulbs came out with a bulb with a "candelabra base". It's really little and unfortunately our office fan/light called for such a thing. One year ago the little special bulbs that we wanted did not exist and it made us sad. For one year we've had to deal with bulbs that take at least a few minutes to actually light up the room, and even then it was kind of dark. Finally, we went to home depot and low and behold what do we find....why yes...it's just what we need. So I changed the light bulbs just now and our room magically lit up the second I flipped the switch. It's the small joys in my life that make my day.
