A summary...

It feels like I'm always doing "summary" posts. Oh well!

I don't have a picture for this but for my 25th birthday Stephen and I spent a whole day at White Water Bay. No phones, no watches. Just did whatever we wanted, whenever we wanted. It was AWESOME!!!!!

We cheered my mom on at the Downtown Dash 5k. She did great!!!!

Stephen's department at work had a cookout at Mitch Park. We played games, cooked burgers, and stayed out really late like we were teenagers.
Meanwhile....Stephen continues to make progress on our bathroom remodel while I document it with pictures and stay out of the way.

Next we traveled to Tulsa to videotape a friends wedding and visit with friends and family. My next project is to make a wicked DVD for the newlyweds!!
We also went to a renewal of vows for some friends of ours that eloped 4 years ago. It was quite the casual affair, but really cool to be there.

And last but not least. I found 3..yes 3!! Tomatoes growing on my tomato plants. I'm actually worried to leave them for five days while we're out of town!!!

This is my tomato and green pepper garden. The peppers are also starting to grow but they are so small the picture did not turn out great.
See you next time for a post all about Washington D.C.!!!!!!

Something for dinner...

Last night I tried making Grilled Tomato and Brie Sandwiches from my Cooking Light magazine. It looked really yummy but I knew it would be a little bit of a stretch.

Well...I made them and we both had about two bites before making heat-up dinners instead.

The bread was soggy and and the taste was really weird. A plain 'ole grilled cheese tasted 10 times better than this.

An Assortment of Awesomeness...

I already blogged about running our first 5k...but here's a picture for you. Look to our Youtube site for a short video of the marathoners at mile 21!

Here's a funny story. About a week ago dad wrote me on facebook and asked if I'd come over and show him the ropes. It was super funny to see his reaction to understanding who could see what, and why I could see what he wrote people through my news feed. It was fun. And in the process I had to call my Grandpa and walk him through deleting friends. Apparently he had become friends with strangers due to some "senior moments".

Lately, I've become slightly addicted to searching and following other people's blogs. You could call me a blog stalker because I don't even know most of these people. However, one night, in the two hours I wasted just reading blogs and looking at facebook I came across some pictures of some really awesome looking cupcakes. They were not the normal chocolate with chocolate icing either. They were seriously gourmet. So I decided to try and make my own version (from a martha stewart recipe).

I decided to make homemade banana cupcakes with buttercream icing. Here is a picture of all the ingredients that are needed. I'm so artsy, aren't I.
First you must cream your butter and brown sugar.
Then you mix your banana and buttermilk with some vanilla extract. You then mix this with the butter and some flour to make the cupcake!
While baking them.....
....make the most sweetest, awesomest, icing ever....and TA DA!!! With just a sprinkle of cinnamon you have delicious cupcake!! I made them on mothers day and we each enjoyed 1 maybe 2. I made Stephen take them to the break room at his office so other people could enjoy them and I wouldn't gain 5 pounds.

Running and Bugs

Well I finished my first 5k along with Stephen, his parents and my mom. Scott and Janet stayed over at our house for the weekend which was nice. Saturday night before the run Mom came over and I made chicken fettuccine with homemade Alfredo sauce. It was really yummy and perfect for a carbo load...but beware...it did call for two ENTIRE sticks of butter!!!!!

We all went to bed early and left the house at 5am in time to get downtown, park, and walk to our starting line. There was a lot of standing around before the 6:30 start time, and then we had to wait at least 15 minutes for all the marathoners, half marathoners, and first leg of relayers to go first. 19,000 people participated this year!!! Once the 5k people took off it took some maneuvering to run around all the walkers but then after at least a block you were pretty much in the clear. I met up with Mom at that point and ran with her for a while. She only stopped once, but I stopped about 3 times. She was then ahead of me and I could never quite catch back up. Scott crossed the finish line first, then Stephen , Liz at 32:00, Megan at 35:00, and Janet. It was a lot of fun and thanks to all the people at Fleet Feet Sports for making this a possibilty for us !!!!

The three of us continue to run three times a week and then we'll start training for a 10k. In the mean time, Stephen and I going are to run another 5k at the end of may and the Midnight Streak in July! Hopefully next year we might even run the half marathon!!!!!!

Did I mention we are going to retile our bathrooms this summer???? Well we pick out some tile last night....more on that project later.

My herbs are doing great...however...something is eating my basil plants. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

NEW !!!!

If you have been following my facebook updates you know that I have been trying to fight off getting a cold. Well today I officially lost. I have a cold or allergies or something and it's making it hard to breath and my eyes are burning. This is a total bummer because I was hoping to be in good health before I ran my first 5k on Sunday morning. However, I still have two days to recover, and Stephen just brought me some good medicine.

Okay so today, despite the sadness to my parents we moved the piano to our house. Mom just doesn't play it anymore and Stephen and I really wanted to start playing again and take some lessons.
The only place we could put it was our guest bedroom. And yes, that's my old trundle bed in there too. We had it tuned and the guy said that's it's in really good condition and that yamahas keep their pitch really well so we didn't need any major tuning. YEAH! I haven't played in about 10 years so I only know one song by finger memory. Stephen is going to have to help me remember how to read the bass clef also.

In other exciting news we transplanted our vegatables to the garden yesterday. I am super excited to watch them grow and bear fruit!! We have 4 tomato plants that are about 4 inches tall. There were actually 6 in the pot but we decided 4 was enough.
And we have 9 green and red pepper plants that are about 2 inches tall.
Among our herbs I planted Parsley...

Basil and Cilantro....

Tomorrow Stephen and I and some friends from work are going to the Arts Festival, Pasta night is on Saturday and our run is on Sunday Morning. So be looking out for the next blog update!!!!

Short and Sweet...

So.....I have a blog, so I should blog.

I last wrote about the weather....which is lame...but in Oklahoma it can be quite interesting. So in Feb. we had a tornado and the last weekend in March it snowed. Go figure. Tulsa got about 3 inches and the panhandle got about a foot!
The daffodils that were all over my yard bloomed early and have already died. It was sad, but we have already planted new things for late spring and summer. Last weekend, Stephen and I spent the ENTIRE day in the yard getting it ready to plant. We took out some bushes and rocks, tilled the dirt, put in a new border, and didn't get any flowers planted until after it rained for a whole day. I waited as long as i could stand it (a day and half) for the dirt to dry and planted our flowers before it rained again. Our front garden area should be full of color in no time!

I also started an herb and veggie garden 6 or 8 weeks back and desperately need to move the tomatoes to the ground. I have 5 tomato plants in 1 pot...and i just saw 3 more buds today!!!! We have a few green/red pepper plants as well as some basil, cilantro, and parsley.

My mom and I went to go see the King Tut exhibit in Dallas back in Feb. It was alright, like any other historic exhibit. We had a bit of time to look at the modern art stuff, which is always....interesting....to say the least. We had dinner with the Gerbers and everyone else. As always it was quite the commotion. Here, we all take a turn at "skip-it".

Please don't be offended by the following video. Stephen thought the lady had a weird look on her face...so we covered her up. Then to be funny we gave the vice president a top hat and a little beard. Oh, just watch....hopefully you'll get a little laugh out of it like we did.

Top Hat

New Videos!!!

I have now posted all ski trip videos to youtube. Check them out!!!!!!

Also, Stephen and I went to visit the little Lucas Weatherford. He was so cute...but not near as cute my my nephews. Regardless, his parents didn't hold him for a good three hours.

Today we had a bout of storms roll through Edmond at about 3:00. We were all watching the news and saw the F2 (click on the video at the bottom that says "Tornado forms live on air near edmond middle school") hit down near Kelly and Sorghum Mill road, roll through Mitch Park and Oak Tree Neighborhood. Most of you don't know where that is, but if the path and kept straight it probably would have go towards my house and maybe even into downtown edmond where i work and stephen is not too far away. My whole office wasn't getting any work done and there was another storm headed straight for us, so my boss made us all go home. Awesome!!! Luckily, nothing hit us, we just got some heavy rain and some hail. Here is the view from my house after the brunt of the storm was basically over.

See how low the clouds are!!

And...it's February but I have flowers sprouting in random areas of my yard. Spring at a new house is going to be very interesting.
